- I long for regional politics: a politics in which Americans actually represent their local needs, rather than just reflect back to the national media what the national media has been telling them.
- Twitter is not a forum for political exchange: it is a breeding ground for reactionaries.
- American political cults, both left and right, are unified in their hatred for those who don’t think like them, and for knowledge outside the sphere of what they already think they know.
- Trump and Obama both won because the transcended party and become personalities — parties of one. I assign no value to this observation, but it ought be heeded.
- Both political factions have an aversion to sex — are Puritanical (censorial) at heart. The right hates sex divorced from normativity; the left hates sex guided by normativity. Of course, in reality, people need both: traditions and subversions. The loss of erotic dialectic is disturbing.
- I’m not persuaded by environmental movements that do not involve mass movements back to the land — that do not involve gardening, farming, care-taking of all kinds.
