The main function of the mask is not, in fact, to keep people safe, but to allow those who participate in the pandemic of fear to identify those who are not — to allow those who are participating in the lockdowns to identify those who are breaking lockdown. Masks are markers for government control, which is why they are largely advocated by governments, despite their dubious at best medical efficacy.
At the beginning of the COVID crisis, there were two kinds of possible experiments: 1) an experiment on the self by the self 2) an experiment by the state on the people. Most people, bizarrely, opted out of experiment #1 into experiment #2.
