“I’m beginning to be able to describe which neurosis is lifting: the need for the permission to exist, the need for an intellectual or spiritual back story for every action. Life is so much more practical. I take the kid for walks in like this backpack thingy, I tend to the garden, get groceries and supplies from the village, get a fire going. Pure action: without like, the American obsession with figurative and literal payoff.”
